Santa Monica United's G17 is currently holding open tryouts to strengthen the squad for the 2010-2011 fall league season. The team trains on Tuesdays and Thursday from 6-7:30 PM at Webster middle school in West LA. You must be born on or after 8/1/1993 to play for this team.

R.I.P. JAMES DANIEL O'CONNELL

It is with deepest regret and sympathy that Santa Monica United FC announces the passing of former SMU player James Daniel O'Connell, son of former President Dan O'Connell.
Jamie, as he was known by friends and coaches, was 20 years old and will always be remembered as an outstanding young man and human being.
He shall be sorely missed.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the O'Connell family.

A memorial service for Jamie O’Connell will be held next Wednesday, July 7th, at 2:00 p,m. at Westwood United Methodist Church, 10497 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90024. Phone is 310-474-4511.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Jamie to funds that have been set up at his three schools: John Thomas Dye School, Brentwood School and Lafayette College in Bethlehem, PA. The family realizes how much everyone wants to honor Jamie, but we don’t have all the details yet as to how donations should be made. Please bear with us and we will provide details as soon as we have them.

SMUFC's infamous Fearless Footwork Clinic with Coach Robert Bahedry returns to Friday nights 6-7:30 PM, starting Friday August 20 at Webster Middle School in west LA.

This amazing clinic is OPEN TO ALL (NOT just for Santa Monica United) PLAYERS ages 6-12 ... Our "FF" program is aimed at teaching technical soccer skills by education through fun! Whether you are interested in becoming the next Cristiano Ronaldo or the next Mia Hamm, or you purely want to have an enjoyable soccer experience.

SMU 2010-2011 SEASON BEGINS ON AUGUST 2

SMU will begin activities for the 2010-2011 season on August 2.

The SMU coaching staff will run the annual performance week camp, which is mandatory for all SMU players. Each player will work for two hours with the staff. Camp is Monday to Friday.

The State Cup journey began for the G99 team in Lancaster on January 30th/31st. The team got off to a great start with a 7-0 win against FC Man United. The biggest test of the day came against the Bronze South champions, the Saddleback Quakes, who came into the game not having lost a match all season. The SMU girls left every ounce of energy on the field, only to walk away with a 3-0 defeat. The team’s State Cup aspirations rested on the result of the 3rd and final match of pool play against NHB FC ...

Advancing out of pool play with a 2-0-1 record, SMU's G96 team wins final by a score of 1-0 to take 1st place at the "2010 Eclipse Winter Cup." Congratulations to all the players and coaches and good luck in State Cup.

SMUB95's WRAP PRESEASON as 1000 OAKS CLASSIC "CHAMPIONS"

Battling triple-digit temperatures over two days, SMU's BU95 team emerges as "CHAMPION" of the 200 THOUSAND OAKS CLASSIC the weekend of August 29-30.

Pool play began with a 9-0 win over MSC Express, followed by a 6-0 victory over LA Rampage. Sunday morning proved to be a bigger challenge vs. Ajax FC. Although SMU lost that match 2-3, the team advanced as pool winners to the final, with a mouth-watering encounter against the silver elite tournament host team, NPSC Black Cats.

SMU B95 came away with a narrow 2-1 victory (after extra time) in a fiercely fought final. Congratulations everyone.
